When my teenagers went out the door with friends, I used to admonish them to "keep your nose clean" as my mother used to say to me (meaning avoid getting into trouble). One of my sons told me the next day how I embarrassed him. "We don't use drugs, Mom!" I hadn't equated the expression with cocaine.
